Hastings High School held its first Model United Nations (MUN) conference in over 10 years on November 23, 2024! Schools from all over New York attended the conference. With mock committees covering pressing global issues, the topics ranged from space militarization to the impact of tourism on the environment and stopping the spread of cyberterrorism.
Hastings Model UN currently has over 30 members. The club is led by Secretaries General Adela Mihalcescu and Lyra Kinderlerer, who have put so much effort into ensuring the club’s success. Under faculty advisor Mr. Michael Willson, the club has seen significant growth and expansion. Mr. Willson’s dedication to the club is deeply appreciated by its members as he has played a significant role in ensuring the club’s success. Lyra described the conference as “A successful day in diplomacy” adding on that she and Adela “Look forward to passing on the tradition.”
