Spring break is a great time to relax and take a break from the stresses of school and daily life. Students from Hastings High School had a variety of different experiences over their spring breaks, ranging from coastal adventures, to an uneventful staycation, to Piña Coladas on the beach. These trips produced hilarious moments that created stories for families to talk about for years to come.
Hanna Ben-Zvi, an HHS sophomore, visited Cape Cod with her family. She said that visiting in the spring made the experience even better because “it was really fun to just get to be there when it was colder, because usually it’s really hot there.” Hanna described a funny moment that happened during a car ride with her family. Her brother, who was sitting in the front seat of the car, balanced a can of seltzer on top of another and put it in the cupholder next to his seat. Then, as Hanna said, “I sat on the front seat and [the seltzer] spilled all on top of me, and my butt was wet for the rest of the day!”
On the other hand, Ruby Black, another sophomore, had a less eventful spring break. In her words, “I did some college tours, and then I just stayed home.” Though she had fun seeing some of her extended family, she described her break as mostly boring.
Adeline Warner, a freshman, got a taste of summer during her spring break. She visited Marco Island, Florida, and described it as a “really nice” experience. The highlight of her trip was when “they served us Piña Coladas on the beach.” Though she had a good time on the trip, there was a small issue. As she says, “the UV was 12 the whole time and I got really burnt – people kept asking me if I had vitiligo!”
Though each of these people had very different experiences over break, they all got a well deserved chance to rest and recharge before coming back to school!
