Dear Buzzer readers,
As this is our last issue of the Buzzer before we graduate, we want to take this opportunity to reflect on our past four years writing and editing for the Buzzer.
We both started working on the Buzzer in September of our freshman year, writing our first article together about Dr. McKersie becoming Hastings’ new superintendent. We have come a long way from tentatively setting up an interview that accidentally turned into a 45 minute conversation, and we appreciate how constant the Buzzer has been in our high school experiences. We have cycled through editors, faculty advisors, school administrations, and tumultuous current events (looking at you, 2024-2025 school year), and yet the Buzzer has remained a space where we can constructively question ideas and explore new topics. Throughout our time, we’ve learned how to lead effectively, manage time and people, and turn a school club into a community.
We also wanted to take this opportunity to thank you, faithful readers of the Buzzer, for engaging with the articles that we’ve worked so hard on. Without you, none of this would have been possible. Thank you, as well, to our incredibly supportive faculty advisors, Mrs. Rudolph and Cin, as well as our smart, dedicated, and patient 2024-2025 editing staff.
As we take the next step in our educational journey, we would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the impact that our amazing experiences with the Buzzer have had on our lives. We are confident that the 2025-2026 staff, and beyond, will continue to carry the legacy of providing HHS with an extraordinary student-run news source that we were so lucky to work for during these past four years.
Sincerely,
Frieda Belasco and Natalie Garson
