Finishing the 2025 season as Section 1 Class B champions, the Hastings High School Varsity Softball team had a historic season. Going into playoffs, the Yellowjackets had a record of 13-6 and were the one seed. Ultimately beating Dobbs Ferry 10-9 in the section final, the team proved that they were 100% worthy of their seeding. Winning the section final allowed the softball team to move onto the regional championship, where they faced Highland High School and unfortunately lost, bringing their season to a close. Still, their accomplishments were unprecedented and will leave a lasting impression on the Hastings softball community for years to come.
Junior captains Siri Rosenberg and Lola Norlander, who have received All-Section and All-Section Honorable Mention recognitions, respectively, shared comments on their team’s remarkable season. Rosenberg, the team’s star pitcher, stated that the team is far from done: “Making school history felt so good, and we want to do it again next year but with states.” She also remarked that the “effort and dedication” that the entire team put into this season “truly shows in the results.” Norlander, the team’s catcher, furthered Rosenberg’s comments on the team’s sentiment that “this isn’t the end,” and they are “just getting started.” She also thanks the seniors, Kylie Vulpone and Abby Foster, for “working so hard” and setting an incredible example for the large percentage of younger players that comprise the Hastings Varsity Softball team.
In addition to Rosenberg and Norlander—who were recognized by the section for their outstanding performances—Sophia Pereira, Hazel Sabella, and Ella Rizzo were also highlighted and received All-League recognition. On top of that, Kylie Vulpone received an All-League Honorable Mention.
As Rosenberg stated, “Although [the team] ultimately came up short, [they] had such a fantastic season.” To Norlander, this season’s team of girls is “like family,” and that sense of community that has allowed the team to succeed this season will continue into 2026, with the team’s core message coming to the forefront: “Sometimes me, sometimes you, ALWAYS us.”
