
The Varsity Baseball Team were League Champions and Section One Class B Runner-ups, defeating Blind Brook and Briarcliff twice in the playoffs before falling to the Section 1 Champions, Putnam Valley. Nathan Krapf recorded 76 strikeouts on the mound, which puts him in 33rd place in New York State to go along with his six wins. Jackson Acree won six games and had three saves for the Jackets. He also had 17 runs batted in. Drew Ciszewski struck out 52 batters while picking up two wins. Julius Stephens had 15 runs batted in on the season. Charlie Richardson stole 10 bases and made several spectacular catches in the outfield. James Doherty played well at first base, committing only a single error all season. Johnny Sbrega had 18 hits and 22 walks for a .500 on-base percentage and scored 18 runs while playing great at center field. Avi Rothstein was key behind the plate and recorded 196 put-outs on the season. Andrew Rizzo hit eight doubles on the season and played a fantastic second base. Matt Corbo hit two home runs on the season and knocked in 16 runs. Aidan Curtis blasted a key home run in the playoffs and pitched well during the season. Hastings had many players pick up awards, as Johnny Sbrega, Julius Stephens, Charlie Richardson, and Andrew Ciszewski were all honorable mentions for all-league. Matt Corbo, Jackson Acree, and Andrew Rizzo were all named to the all-league team, while Nathan Krapf was all-league and all-section. Senior Kieran McGrath led New York State in home runs with 8 along with 28 RBI’s. Kieran also set a new school record for walks in a season with 29. These incredible numbers allowed for him to be named all-league, all-section, and league MVP! Coach Dom Cecere had a fantastic year coaching, allowing him to be named the league coach of the year.
The team ended the season with a record of 10-3-1. They had tremendous success in interleague play, going 6-0 in their league. The team relies on pitching from Anthony Moore, Andrew DiLeo, and Lucien Smith. The team has supported pitching with great hitting by Andrew Constantine, Ethan Malat, Bobby Jennenman and Joe Sbrega.

The softball team had a historic season, going 16-6, and winning Section 1 Class B for the first time in program history. This was also only the second title in girls athletics sports history for Hastings. They beat Dobbs Ferry 10-9 after splitting with them during the regular season. To get into the finals, Ruby Wallach scored Izzy Doherty on a walk-off single against Putnam Valley to get them the 6-5 win. Superstar Siri Rosenberg earned all-section and all-league, while Lola Norlander was an all-section honorable mention as well as an all-league player. Lola also won LoHud Player of the Week. Kylie Vulpone was player of the game for the Section 1 finals and earned a Lohud player of the week nomination. Ella Rizzo, Sophia Pereira, and Hazel Sabella all earned all-league honors, while Kylie Vulpone was an all-league honorable mention.

The season was a tremendous success, as the golf team finished the season 15 – 1 overall and 7 and 1 in league play, winning the league. Coach Berger says that this was the best season in the history of Hastings golf. Eddie Ponegai, Sebastian Montequin, and Andrew Tenthoff made all league. Eddie finished 30th in the section at the sectional tournament, which is an incredible feat.
The Boys Tennis Varsity Team had a great season and won their league, beating Irvington and Dobbs Ferry twice each. For the first time in years, the team qualified for the sectional team tournament, where they upset the higher-seeded Ardsley 3 – 2 before losing a close semifinal game versus Eastchester. Coach Stefan Riecher is excited, as they have a promising, young team that showed great team spirit and sportsmanship. He feels optimistic that Hastings Boys Tennis have great years to come.
The team competed on June 7th at the Section 1 State Qualifier and had many outstanding performances. The team is young and very talented with a lot of potential for the years to come. Freshman sprinters Kai Ghalib and Lachlan Muldoon have benefited from the leadership and experience of Alex Lai, while young distance runners Colin Glass, Jonah Goldberg, Maxwell Silva Steeves, Pedro Junqueira, Anthony Holder and Tadgh McCabe have shown incredible talent and growth as well. Standout freshmen are Georgia Schmit, Claire Grushko, Sage Wrzsensinski, Emma Boudrais and Jenny Schofield. In addition, sophomore Hazel Kuniholm has continued to impress. They made an instant impact on the team, and Guilfoyle is excited to watch their continued improvements and successes. The girls team were the league champions, and will be sending nine athletes to the state championships in Middletown, NY. Competing in individual events will be Danae Morgan in the shot put and discus, Caitlin Thomas in the 3000 meter and 1500 meter, and Samantha Guilfoyle in the 400 meter hurdles. In addition, two relay teams also qualified. The girls 4×800 meter team consists of Hazel Kuniholm, Sage Wrzesinski, Claire Grushko and Caitlin Thomas. In addition to qualifying for the state meet, they also set a new school record! The girls 4×400 meter team of Maya Ganeshananthan, Louise Durietz-Bourdain, Samantha Guilfoyle and Georgia Schmit will also be competing at the state meet.
The team concluded the season with a 3–5 record, with many of the losses coming down to narrow margins. Despite the challenges, the team’s growth was remarkable. Over the course of the season, the players demonstrated significant improvement and resilience.
Key contributors included 9th grader Rory McKinnon, who dominated on the draw and controlled the midfield, and 10th grader Genesis Chacha, who served as the anchor and communicator on defense. Caroline Emilio, another standout 9th grader, showcased a strong shot and finishing ability on offense. First-year goalie Saydi Landon, also a 9th grader, played a critical role in the team’s successes with impressive poise and skill in the net. The future is bright for this young and determined squad.
The season didn’t go very well, but it ended on a good note. However, this season did have many bright moments. Multiple freshmen scored their first varsity goals. The last game ended with Max Meisner netting his first career hat trick and Thomas Mooney with a first career goal at the buzzer.
