Senior Advice Column

As the year comes to a close, we reflect on the year as a whole. When choosing some seniors, we asked them questions about their high school experience.

Zachary Perrin:

What is one piece of advice you would give to incoming freshmen?

“My top piece of advice would be to try to get as many of the people in your grade as possible. In middle school there are these made up lines that separate people into different groups and the sooner you realize how silly those lines are the sooner you will be able to really enjoy high school.”

Do you have any favorite school moment/activity you’ve done in your four years?

“I would say my favorite school activity was probably going to MUN conferences.”

How has Hastings shaped you as a person? What have you taken away from the past years at HHS, and how did that impact who you are today?

“The tight knit community Hastings has definitely was very formative as I was able to grow up with the same group of people. I’m really thankful for this because I think for many places high school friends just stay as high school friends but in a place like Hastings where people are so close I know the people around me will continue to play a major role in my life in college and beyond.”

Emmy Taylor:

What is one piece of advice you would give to incoming freshmen?

“I’d say to enjoy every moment!! It’s super cliche and doesn’t seem true in the moment but time truly does fly and these four years have been the fastest of my life and it’s so important to live in the moment, spend as much time with your friends as you can, and just soak up your time in Hastings because it truly is such a special place!”

Do you have any favorite school moment/activity you’ve done in your four years?

“1 My favorite school activity I’ve done over four years was student union! I’ve loved being a leader and playing an active role in making things happen at school.”

“The tight knit community has shaped me and my relationships in countless ways. One of the most important things I’ve learned from being at HHS is that the people make the place! The people around me here have shaped me to the person I am today.”

Tavia Seitz

What is one piece of advice you would give to incoming freshmen?

“My senior year was really great! A piece of advice would be to just take advantage of all of the opportunities that Hastings has. I think we have such a great school where there are so many opportunities to follow what you’re interested in and form so many relationships which is awesome.”

Do you have any favorite school moment/activity you’ve done in your four years?

“My favorite moment was when  I was running the Spanish club and had worked really hard to get people to come and we had one of the first meetings and lots of people came from across all different grades.”

How has Hastings shaped you as a person? What have you taken away from the past years at HHS, and how did that impact who you are today?

“Hastings has shaped me a lot. I would say the close knit community has been the most impactful. Growing up around the same 100 people for the past years has been so amazing and I love seeing everyone grow and change alongside each other. I have learned how to do everything alongside these people.”
