What’s a funny memory from any year of high school or a teacher who’s had a big impact on you?

A funny memory is probably when we played Among Us during PL multiple times.

What advice would you give to your freshman self?

If you do anything for schoolwork, try to get it in on time, that’s the most important thing.

If you were a high school character from a movie, tv show, or book, who would you be?

Oh, I’m like the H2O mermaids, because I like the beach and I wish I lived in Australia and I think I would have a really cool Australian accent if I lived in Australia.

What’s an accomplishment you’re proud of?

Getting through junior year and also taking the APs.

What clubs/sports/activities are you involved in at HHS?

Track and field, I write for The Buzzer, I’m in SADD Club, now I’m in Women’s Health Club, and I’m in the steel drum band.

What’s a funny memory from any year of high school or a teacher who’s had a big impact on you?

Ms. G is fantastic! The way that she connects with students and really tries to make class super engaging and try to help students in the best ways possible was great; AP Bio was a really fun class and I learned a lot.

What advice would you give to your freshman self?

Learn how to study properly.

If you were a high school character from a movie, tv show, or book, who would you be?

I couldn’t think of one if I had all the time in the world.

What’s an accomplishment you’re proud of?

I’m happy I’ve gotten into the tech scene with theater because I think it’s really fun and a good way to form community.

What clubs/sports/activities are you involved in at HHS?

I’m the GSA (Gender Sexuality Alliance) Co-President and part of the tech crew as I mentioned.

What’s a funny memory from any year of high school or a teacher who’s had a big impact on you?

A teacher that had an impact on me was Ms. Walters. Last year I took an elective with her, Revealing Women, and I was really struggling with getting work in on time because it was a tough year. She pushed me at times when I really needed it and she was there for support and because of that I ended up succeeding in her class. Because of the impact she had on me and because of her, now I’m taking AP Lit which I probably wouldn’t have done otherwise.

What advice would you give to your freshman self?

Be friends with the people who make you happy, not with the people that make your image look better.

If you were a high school character from a movie, tv show, or book, who would you be?

I would be Mia from Princess Diaries because she’s such an icon. I love her, I love Anne Hatheway.

What’s an accomplishment you’re proud of?

Taking Film Studies as an elective. That class was really hard, and I’m not a writer. I don’t write usually, but by taking that class I really pushed myself out of my comfort zone and it ended up being one of my favorite classes, and I love Mr. Scotch.

What clubs/sports/activities are you involved in at HHS?

I don’t do sports, but I’m a part of Amnesty International. I’m trying to run a fundraiser for them right now. I’m part of both book clubs, even though they haven’t started yet. Hopefully once they start I’ll be able to participate. I also try to attend SADD Club when I can.

What’s a funny memory from any year of high school or a teacher who’s had a big impact on you?

Mr. Scotch has had a big impact on me and I’ve learned a lot from him.

What advice would you give to your freshman self?

Don’t worry that you’re not gonna be on the same class path as everyone else, because you’re going into a completely different field. Be confident in who you are and what you’re taking. Also, learn how to use a semicolon.

If you were a high school character from a movie, tv show, or book, who would you be?

No idea. Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter if anything, that’s the closest I can come up with.

What’s an accomplishment you’re proud of?

Getting a 100 on my SUPA homework last week from Mr. Scotch.

What clubs/sports/activities are you involved in at HHS?

I was on the varsity volleyball team for three years, I’m the captain and president of Model UN, I’m the president of Cooking Club, I’m a part of National Honor Society and National Art Honor Society, and I work with the theater department to do graphic design.

What’s a funny memory from any year of high school or a teacher who’s had a big impact on you?

A teacher that had a big impact on me would be Dr. Stephens, mostly because he made one of the best math classrooms ever. It was just the bomb. He was always happy, always smiling. It’s a shame that I haven’t seen him this year. If I had to get adopted by any one of the teachers in the school it would be Dr. Stephens.

What advice would you give to your freshman self?

Wear Doc Martens more often; be true to yourself cause if you ain’t true to yourself, you ain’t true to nobody; I never got into drugs but I would still say don’t do drugs cause it’s just a good thing to say; and rule the world.

If you were a high school character from a movie, tv show, or book, who would you be?

Peter Parker, mostly because I think Peter Parker is one of the best superheroes written, I feel like he embodies the indomitable human spirit, which I feel like is something a lot of people need nowadays. On a personal level, I’d probably be Mark Grayson from Invincible.

What’s an accomplishment you’re proud of?

Being a part of the Portrait of a Hastings Learner process because that was a lot of interviews, and I totally had to step out of my comfort shell for that one. They had this big room upstairs in the middle school auditorium with teachers from everywhere, and there were only two students, it was Gus and me. You can imagine me walking in, I walked in early too because I wanted to make a good impression, and everyone’s in suits and stuff and I’m in like a hoodie, jeans and Docs. It was so awkward. The lady was nice though, she was the bomb. Made me feel included.

What clubs/sports/activities are you involved in at HHS?

We haven’t had our first meeting yet, but I’ve only been involved in one club, and that would be Photo Club. I’m really into photography and I think it’s cool. I totally would’ve joined Photo Club earlier, that’s actually what I should’ve told my freshman self.
