On Friday, December 5, Hastings High School hosted its Annual Talent Show! At 7:00 PM, HHS’ students brought their talents to the auditorium and competed for a variety of cash prizes, including a $100 Sakura Garden Gift Card for first place. In the past years, some of the most notable acts have been stand-up comedy that had the crowd laughing uncontrollably, music acts that left jaws on the floor, and dog shows that included adorable tricks with furry friends. Here is a sneak-peek into the acts that hit the stage this school year.
SIBLINGS TAKING THE STAGE TOGETHER
David and Andrew Franco made their sibling debut with an unbelievable music performance of “Maneater” by Daryl Hall and Jone Oates! With Drew on the piano and David at the microphone, these brothers took the house down as the show’s opening act.
THE RETURN OF THE DOG SHOW (with more dogs!)
Tavia Seitz returned with her adorable Golden Retriever, Mosey. This year, however, she was accompanied by new guests…Maxine Didovic and her Golden Retriever, Sunny! The two Goldens are sisters, so the show was next level.
COMEDIC SONG
After sharing an embarrassing moment from summer camp at last year’s talent show, stand-up comedian Ben Levan decided to bring both guitar and vocals into his performance this year. He wrote a hilarious piece titled “Worst Times” about awkward moments, stepping up his game and causing the crowd to explode with laughter.
SOLO GUITAR ACT
Returning from last year’s astonishing performance of “Crazy Train” by Ozzy Osbourne on the electric guitar, David Sukenick gave the audience another jaw-dropping act this Friday. His skills were unmatched, bringing “Pride and Joy” by Stevie Ray Vaughn to the audience.
MULTILINGUAL SINGING
The crowd was amazed by Adela Mihalcescu and Jacob Klugerman’s closing act. She sang in not one, not two, but six different languages! Accompanied by Klugerman on the piano, Mihalcescu delivered one of the most unique performances ever seen at the High School talent show.
After much deliberation, the judges made their final decisions: David Sukenick in third place, Adela Mihalcescu and Jacob Klugerman in second place, and Ben Levan in first place. It is clear that this year’s talent show will have an unforgettable legacy for Hastings High School.
